Simple steps to make your own Homemade Almond Butter!
About this Recipe
Making homemade almond butter couldn’t be more simple. All you need is a food processor, salt, and some raw almonds. (I also like to throw in some vanilla extract for flavor, but that is optional.)
Why choose to make Almond Butter at home?
Making almond butter at home is the most economical way to enjoy this nutritious spread. Almond butter from a grocery store can range from $8 all the way to $15 for 16 ounces. Buying raw almonds in bulk is the way to go, as you can get more for your dollar, and make delicious almond butter anytime!
How to get the right texture for homemade almond butter:
More Creamy Texture
One important trick to remember for this recipe is to start by roasting the raw almonds. This will help to cut down on processing time by speeding up the extraction of oils in the almonds, which is what allows almond butter to become creamy
Less Creamy Texture
To achieve a less creamy texture, forego roasting the almonds or roast the almonds for less time. Be aware that without roasting the almonds, it will add about 10 minutes to the overall prep time.
Running the food processor to extract oils from the almonds
Depending on the texture you desire, you will run the food processor for anywhere from 15-25 minutes. It takes a bit for the oil to become fully extracted from the almonds…so be patient even when it looks like it might need it, don’t add any addition oils and let the almonds process completely.
